«Weltklasse Zürich is coming to you» – Many events in the week prior to the track and field meeting
Prior to the highlight of this year’s track and field season – the Wanda Diamond League Final at Weltklasse Zürich on 7 and 8 September 2022 – athletics fans, sports enthusiasts and families have even more highlights waiting for them: the Weltklasse Zürich Pop-Ups presented by UBS. The event series will take place from 1 to 7 September 2022 and will include exciting runs, inspirational talks as well as interesting masterclasses and workshops – a true festival of possibilities to actively enjoy the sport in all its facets.
“Weltklasse Zürich is more than a track and field meeting. We go out of the stadium and want to involve and inspire as many people as possible prior to Weltklasse Zürich. To participate in different events, learn new things and get to know new facts of Weltklasse Zürich is the central idea of the pop-up events”, Christoph Joho, Co-Meeting Director of Weltklasse Zürich explains.
The attractive events can be divided into three categories that may also be combined: active experience, learning and kids & family. Olympic champion Nicola Spirig will for instance talk about extreme pressure – and coping with it – in one of the masterclasses. Additionally, she will be joined by her family to run at the Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run on 5 September 2022. Besides the run, the Zoo Zürich is offering several special tours to include record breaking animals.
The masterclasses and talks are another focus of the Weltklasse Zürich Pop-Ups. Experts will talk about nutrition in sports, the specific practice for women regarding the menstruation and about the importance of sleep. Furthermore, there will be talks about sustainability and mental strength.
Of course, sports are also a big part of the pop-ups: on several run occasions (sunrise runs, lunch runs, trail runs and the zoo run), the participants can run with star athletes. For active families there is also great news: the UBS Kids Cup Experience at Zürich Airport will be lots of fun for everybody getting active running, jumping and throwing.
The Weltklasse Zürich Pop-Ups will take place all over Zürich. From the lake and city center to the Letzigrund Stadium and the Zoo to Zürich Airport.
