«Souvenir» – a song and a story that continues, thanks to three UBS Kids Cup participants. On 9 September, Weltklasse Zürich will bring out the red carpet for them. The show and the live premiere of a new version of the Weltklasse Zürich song at Letzigrund Stadium will make the dream of some young talents become real.

Two years ago, almost to the day, the Swiss pop band Baba Shrimps, pole vault world indoor champion Sandi Morris, and sprint world champion Noah Lyles combined their passion for music and sports. The result was a powerful Weltklasse Zürich song, a lasting «Souvenir».
This year, there will be a new version of the tune. The focus of the remake will be on the memories and dreams of a next generation, represented by UBS Kids Cup participants. The country’s largest platform for young athletes inspires eight- to 15-year-old future athletes to believe in themselves and to follow their dream – in stadiums and beyond.
The two athletics talents Flavia Emmenegger and Etienne Kenfack will take over from Sandi Morris and Noah Lyles. And Baba Shrimps will be succeeded by young musician Marlon Zhu. Their interpretation of «Souvenir» will tell their own story. A story that stands for the passions that ambitious young talents pursue and for the dream of performing on a large stage. No matter whether that stage is in a sports arena, a concert hall, or elsewhere.
«I am very proud to part of the project. Being able to record a song together with the members of Baba Shrimps and other kids is a very special experience,» says Etienne. Just like sprint star Noah Lyles, the 12-year-old from Geneva wrote his own rap. It is about the small victories and memories people collect on their way to the stars, and about overcoming obstacles. And it underlines the Weltklasse Zürich motto: Never Stop getting better.
Live performance at Weltklasse Zürich
On Thursday night (9 September), Flavia, Marlon and Etienne will sing about dreams and memories and, at the same time, fulfil a heartfelt wish of their own by joining Baba Shrimps on the stage during the opening show of Weltklasse Zürich. «I feel pretty nervous about performing in front of so many people. But at the same time, I can hardly wait,» says Flavia. Usually, she sings in her room, with no audience at all. At Letzigrund Stadium, she and her bandmates will inspire an entire generation.
