UBS is involved in Swiss athletics on a broad front. On the one hand as a leading partner of the national association Swiss Athletics, on the other hand as main sponsor of the IAAF Diamond League meetings Weltklasse Zürich and Athletissima Lausanne as well as the Galà dei Castelli in Bellinzona. The UBS Kids Cup, in which more than 150,000 children take part each year, is the flagship event for young talent.
As a long-standing partner of the various organizations, UBS has played a key role in shaping the upswing in Swiss athletics in recent years. Today, many Swiss athletes are among the best in Europe or even the world. Parallel to the pleasing sporting development, the interest of the media increased - also thanks to the dynamism that the home European Championship 2014 in Zurich triggered. In addition, Swiss Athletics' junior delegations have been more successful than ever in recent years. Several times, athletes who once successfully completed the UBS Kids Cup were able to win a medal at a junior European or World Championships.
"The development of Swiss athletics in recent years has been impressive. From the UBS Kids Cup through the junior categories to the international top, a fascinating dynamic has emerged. We are proud to be part of this success story and it is our goal to continue on this path together with our athletics partners," says Johan Jervoe, Chief Marketing Officer, UBS Group.
"The partnership with UBS has enabled groundbreaking developments in Swiss athletics. With the UBS Kids Cup, we have succeeded in bringing athletics back to school and getting thousands of children interested in athletics. This is of fundamental importance in order to identify the talents at an early stage and thus ensure lasting sporting success," says Christoph Seiler, President of Swiss Athletics. "UBS is a competent and reliable partner for us. We are therefore very happy and grateful that we can continue this cooperation for another four years."
